    Thank you Micron. Also read up on your solution… and thanks for linking back here.

    My main issue has been the number of photos that I am trying to handle. So far only Picasa (on windows) has been able to work smoothly with 512 MB of RAM. Lightroom needs almost a gigabyte, BlueMarine can adjust, but still trying to get a grip on how it works… DigiKam is by far the best for UNIX world, but the menus and popup windows for editing creep me out.

    However, one cant stop loving fantastic software like DigiKam :-)

  • Some monitors can pull double duty by means of two input An LCD television (which is basically a monitor with a TV tuner) might let you use a VGA or DVI input for the computer, and might even offer picture-in-picture.

    You might also be able to use a TV tuner card, which installs in your computer via a PCI or USB.

    It might help to check first that your satellite box put restrictions on digital outputs (you typically need an HDMI-compliant device). Meanwhile, analog outputs (component, composite, S-video, coaxial) are fair game.
