  • Just install the regular upgrade IF you have a registered version of Windows 7 now.

    Windows 7 will create a Point' if something screws up, AND a complete copy of ALL your current files will be made, probably in a new folder (Windows000, or something similar), that is where all the former files and folders will be.

    Windows 7 creates it to restore the files and folders from your current HDD content, so you will have all the you had, ready to go.

    Returning it to factory condition is a stripped down version. You will need to re-install all the
    programs NOT included with a clean (first-time) installation.

    No matter what, ALWAYS make backups, preferably on an external HDD.

    When done, get from CNET.com to scan your PC for any and all upgrades that are available for your system.
